Cluttered spaces, messy places and poorly decorated bookcases. Could these be causing you from creating wealth?
If you’re unable to concentrate, work and think clear in your space, home or home office then how do you expect to get your best work accomplished?
I have come to realize that blogging is very hard work. But, working hard is the foundation for any business. And working from home requires even more discipline. So you want your house at its best.
Take in consideration these organizing ideas to create your best space.
Designate a Space in Your Home Only for Office Use
Find an area in your home dedicated only for business purposes. A space where you can work and zone out all the detractions around your house.
Either an extra room or designated area in another room. Make sure that space is clutter free and neat. Create a peaceful environment filled with some of your favorite items. Decorate with your favorite colors or colors that calm or motivate you.
If you do have an extra room to spare, get a comfortable desk, chair, some plants and decorations that put you in the mood to get things done. When the budget is tight you can find furniture at theft stores, discount stores and used office furniture outlets.
Construct a space where you can:
- Work
- Think clearly
- Focus
- Be motivated
- Succeed
Declutter Paper with Practical Storage Solutions
Try to go through your mail every night or designate a table/basket area for the incoming mail load. I recently purchased a small table to go by the front door because mail was piling up in the kitchen or on the coffee table. I sort thru it when I have some down time.
Need another solution? Buy a small shredder to shred junk mail before it even hits the table. Going paperless as much as possible with your bill statements can help too.
When separating mail or any collection of papers make 3 piles: File /Trash /Action. You will be able to better decide what’s what and get through the pile quicker.
Keep important papers (deeds, lease agreements, titles, birth certificates, insurance policies, etc.) in one central location in a fire proof box or a really good sturdy storage compartment.
If you’re a freelance writer keep everything for each project in one manila envelope then trash or file once the project is completed. I picked this up from Peter Bowerman author of The Well-Fed Writer. This could even work for any client base work-from-home business.
Maybe you have to file away clients’ or customers’ information. Get a good filing system going chronologically, alphabetically or color coordinate.
Need another way to tackle that paper clutter? Scan documents you don’t need the original copies too. Save yourself a ton of room and avoid paper overload.
Redecorate a Room in Your Home to Improve Concentration and Lower Stress
The space we live in should be a welcoming stress free space. Get organized for the New Year with proper storage units. Use containers, pretty baskets, trunks and furniture with storage compartments.
Optimize closet space and cabinet space with creative inexpensive shelves and inserts from Lowes, Home Depot, Big Lots, Overstock.com and Walmart.
Re-decorating or painting a room can cast a totally relaxed vibe. Fall in love with your home. Allow it to be your sanctuary. Even if in an apartment you can still make changes without painting to create a tranquil environment.
Last year I decided to make some changes. The colors in my room were beige, brown and white. I didn’t want to go thru the trouble of painting the entire bedroom. So I decided to get a new rug and comforter with multiple bright colors. I followed up with a nice purple accent wall.
Only minor changes but they make a huge difference.
Take Away…
An organized space leads to an organized mind creating an organized business which produces an organized bank account, equaling more wealth for you and your family.
These changes don’t require loads of money.
Pick a day and plan to clean out clutter, clean any messy spaces and decorate those bookcases. Get papers in order, clean out you closets (have a swap party!), kitchen cabinets and garages.
While completing these activities you might just find items around your home to sell and make a few extra bucks.
Come home to a stress free environment and start creating more wealth.
How do you plan to organize your home this year?

Paperwork is my arch nemesis. I’m trying to avoid it whenever possible, by having as much done electronically as I can.
Oddly enough, I’m still a paper planner girl.
I love the envelope idea for sorting papers. I’ve been using binders, but envelopes might actually work better.

Ha ha arch nemesis. That’s my biggest problem too. I always have to stay on top of it….like I’m fighting a paper war. I’m glad you found the envelope tip helpful.

Hello ,
I saw your tweets and thought I will check your website. Have to say it looks very good!
I’m also interested in this topic and have recently started my journey as young entrepreneur.
I’m also looking for the ways on how to promote my website. I have tried AdSense and Facebok Ads, however it is getting very expensive.
Can you recommend something what works best for you?
I also want to improve SEO of my website. Would appreciate, if you can have a quick look at my website and give me an advice what I should improve: http://janzac.com/
(Recently I have added a new page about FutureNet and the way how users can make money on this social networking portal.)
I have subscribed to your newsletter. 🙂
Hope to hear from you soon.
P.S.
Maybe I will add link to your website on my website and you will add link to my website on your website? It will improve SEO of our websites, right? What do you think?
Regards
Jan Zac

Hey there! Quick question that’s entirely off topic.
Do you know how to make your site mobile friendly? My weblog looks weird when viewing from my iphone 4.
I’m trying to find a theme or plugin that might be able to resolve this issue.
If you have any recommendations, please share. Appreciate it!

Hello, unfortunately I don’t have an answer. I had a designer help me with my theme.

Woah! I’m really digging the template/theme of this blog.
It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s difficult to get that “perfect balance” between usability and visual appeal.
I must say that you’ve done a fantastic job with this.
Additionally, the blog loads very quick for me on Safari.
Superb Blog!
